Across the world, persons with disabilities and specifically persons with psychosocial disabilities remain largely invisible in social protection programs, policies and initiatives. They have very limited or no access to income support, employment opportunities, health coverage, and essential mainstream services due to many barriers in society.

Transforming Communities for Inclusion (TCI Global) is hosting a learning webinar with its members and stakeholders to learn about these issues and developing a way forward for the future.

Inclusive Data and Social Protection Systems for
Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities

During this webinar, we will:

  • Highlight the barriers that restrict access to social protection programs for persons with psychosocial disabilities
  • Developing recommendations and identifying needs of persons with psychosocial disabilities for inclusive social protection systems in respective countries,

Joining details for the webinar is as follows:

Date: 16 October 2025

Time: 11:00 AM CET

Poster 1: Do you know that in many low- and middle-income countries, only less than 20% of people with significant disabilities can access disability benefits? Where does that leave persons with psychosocial disabilities?
Why do social protection systems still overlook persons with psychosocial disabilities when it comes to access to income support, employment opportunities, universal health coverage, and essential mainstream services?
When outdated disability assessment tools are based on medicalized and outdated frameworks fail to recognize persons with psychosocial disabilities as part of disability groups and from being counted in census and surveys, how can policies ever be inclusive?
