During a country mission in Nepal, Transforming Communities for Inclusion (TCI), in partnership with its founding member, KOSHISH, organized a CRPD capacity-building program. The workshop was organized on July 22 and 23, 2019. The event brought together participants with psychosocial disabilities, as well as representatives from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Together, they crafted the Kathmandu Declaration related to the Disability Rights Act (2017), the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD, 2006), the UNCRPD Committee’s Concluding Observations for Nepal (2018), and the Bali Declaration (2018). The purpose of making a Kathmandu Declaration was to identify policy gaps in the national disability legislation and propose actions to the Government of Nepal for the inclusion of persons with psychosocial disabilities and policy reforms for having a full CRPD-compliant disability legislation.
