#RightsNOTRisk
In 2025, TCI Global supported Liberation, our member OPD in the UK, in its principled advocacy against the UK Mental Health Bill 2025, including amplifying their campaign and public messaging to strengthen movement visibility and pressure for change.
Alongside this advocacy support, TCI facilitated a connection between Liberation and the CRPD Committee and submitted written inputs to the Committee raising concerns about discriminatory aspects of the Bill, including risks to non-discrimination, legal capacity, and rights-based alternatives to coercion.
The Committee published its follow-up report summarizing letters sent to State Parties, their responses, stakeholder submissions, and the Committee’s assessments, and it captures some of the concerns raised in TCI’s submission.

Liberation also launched a series of posters, some outlining the key concerns with the Bill and others powerfully highlighting the real-life consequences of coercive and non-CRPD-compliant provisions on people’s lives.
