TCI Plenary, Multistakeholder, and Partnership Development Meeting

Reflections from the TCI Plenary
TCI Global conducted its plenary conference & multistakeholder and partnership development meeting on November 16-18, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting witnessed the coming together of a global movement of persons with psychosocial disabilities along with our partners & allies to further strengthen our vision. The event was attended by 98 participants including members from 25 countries. We thank the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, DFAT & CBM-A for sponsoring the program. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed and supported the events.
This gathering was dedicated to the memory of our esteemed Executive Director, Dr. Bhargavi Davar, who steered the vision of TCI and established the foundation for the rightful inclusion of persons with psychosocial disabilities.
TCI members traveled from across the world and brought their grassroots experiences, stories, and learnings to this stellar gathering solidifying the sense of solidarity, highlighting conversations and peer learning exchanges on a wide range of thematics. The space fostered insightful discussions around good practices and advocacy initiatives and harbored a sense of safety, trust, and peers. Engaging in creative formats, it reaffirmed our belief that it is possible to explore critical and deeply personal experiences in playful, relaxed, and non-hierarchical settings. This showcased the incredible strength of our movement, of our leaders and peers, who have endured profound injustices to speak openly about their experiences in formats that are flexible yet never diminish the gravity of issues being discussed. Together, we explored pathways to facilitate truly inclusive communities. One of the key outcomes was the linking of the Bali and Addis Declarations and articulating our call for action within the broader umbrella of Sustainable Development Goals. We hope this strategy document serves as a blueprint to guide efforts toward ensuring disability-inclusive development.
Following TCI’s culture of encouraging constructive dialogue and engagement with stakeholders, we were incredibly proud to host our long-term and new partners along with various multi-stakeholders from cross-disability organizations, INGOs, donors, and UN agencies for a day-long meeting. It was such an enabling and revitalizing space to hear from them directly about their works, commitments, and plans of working together to enable meaningful inclusion of persons with psychosocial disabilities in the development processes.
As we reflect on this amazing experience, for us, the message is clear: as a movement, we move together and that is the power of joining hands, working together, learning and exchanging experiences, building on each other’s knowledge, and collectively transforming communities for inclusion of persons with psychosocial disabilities. We once again thank all our members, allies, partners, donors, and stakeholders for joining us and making this a grand success!
