TCI at the Inclusive International Seminar with Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities in Seoul, organized by DPI Korea, South Korea
TCI Global was honoured to be invited by Disabled People’s International, Korea, to deliver a lecture during their Inclusive International Seminar with Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities in Seoul, towards rights-based deinstitutionalization and inclusion in the community.
Through the intervention, TCI spoke to the CRPD as a concrete tool for change, spotlighting Article 12 (legal capacity and support for decision-making), Article 19 (independent living and inclusion in the community), and Article 28 (adequate standard of living and social protection).
Practical rights-based deinstitutionalization approaches (person-centred planning, community-led supports, accountability and redress) and examples of community inclusion from peer support to livelihoods and cultural participation, grounded in movement leadership and solidarity, were also shared and highlighted during the lecture.
We express our heartfelt thanks to DPI Korea for the kind invitation and for supporting this collaborative work.
